Web Scraper / Data Extraction Specialist

**Location:** Remote, Canada **Duration:** Task-based, on-demand (no guaranteed minimum hours) **Hours:** Variable, per project need **Overview** This is a task-based freelance opportunity supporting outreach and research operations. The role focuses on locating and extracting structured contact data from public web sources and delivering clean, ready-to-use datasets quickly. This is not an ongoing development role — the emphasis is on accurate data delivery, not code ownership. **Key Responsibilities** - Extract contact details (names, emails, job titles, institutions) from academic directories, university pages, and professional websites - Deliver clean, structured output in CSV or Excel format ready to use with no cleanup required - Work on specific data requests as assigned on a task-by-task basis - Handle pagination and multiple source formats accurately - Ensure all extracted and delivered data outputs are formatted in compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards where applicable - Turn around requests quickly with minimal back and forth **Required Qualifications** - Proven experience extracting data from public web sources accurately and at speed - Proficiency in Python (BeautifulSoup, Scrapy, Selenium, or Playwright) or equivalent tools - Ability to work with APIs and JSON data where available - Familiarity with Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards - Strong attention to detail with critical focus on data quality - Reliable turnaround on short timelines with clear communication **Preferred Qualifications** - Experience scraping academic or government directories - Familiarity with LinkedIn, university faculty pages, and research profile databases - Ability to handle anti-bot measures and rate limiting responsibly **Work Location & Requirements** - Fully remote position - Based in Canada - Task-based on-demand role with no guaranteed minimum hours per week
