Job description

**Location:** Remote, Canada **Duration:** Task-based on-demand (no guaranteed minimum hours) **Hours:** Variable, assigned per project phase **Overview** This is a freelance, on-demand opportunity for a creative and detail-oriented web designer. You will design and build clean, professional web pages including competition landing pages, splash pages, registration portals, and multi-phase information websites. Work is assigned on a task-by-task basis as project phases progress, with no guaranteed minimum hours per week. **Key Responsibilities** - Design and develop responsive landing pages and multi-page websites from provided requirements - Build splash pages for email sign-up and pre-launch registration - Create competition submission and registration portals with clean, intuitive UX - Implement updates and revisions quickly as project phases change - Ensure full Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 accessibility compliance across all pages and digital deliverables - Maintain consistent branding and design standards across multiple pages and phases **Required Qualifications** - Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript - Experience with WordPress, Webflow, or similar CMS/no-code platforms - Strong eye for clean, professional design — government or enterprise aesthetic preferred - Demonstrated knowledge of Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards (non-negotiable requirement) - Ability to work with a custom URL and domain setup - Portfolio of landing pages or multi-page web projects - Reliable turnaround on short timelines with clear communication **Preferred Qualifications** - Experience designing for government, research, or innovation programs - Familiarity with leaderboard or submission tracking UI components - Experience setting up public Q&A forums or community discussion pages - Basic knowledge of form integrations and email capture tools - Prior work on Section 508 audits or accessibility remediation **Work Location & Requirements** - Fully remote position - Must be located in Canada - Task-based on-demand role with no guaranteed minimum hours per week - Work assigned per project phase
