Job description

**Location:** Fully remote (Canada) **Duration:** Milestone-based freelance contract **Overview** A large organization working with extensive volumes of imagery, video, and audio is building a next-generation multimodal AI platform to help experts analyze and manage content at scale. The platform performs first-pass analysis using computer vision, speech-to-text, and language models, then presents findings to human experts for review, correction, and approval. This is a software architecture, integration, and application development effort that assembles best-in-class existing AI services into a robust production platform. The developer will build the two core applications: a review-and-validation workspace for expert operators and a powerful search experience across the archive. **Key Responsibilities** - Build an operator workspace for reviewing imagery and video, AI-generated metadata/transcripts/summaries, and approving, rejecting, or editing AI recommendations with workflow status and confidence indicators - Develop role-based admin views for configuration, users/permissions, and workflow/system-health monitoring - Create a search interface across imagery, video, metadata, transcripts, and contextual information with retrieval of archived content - Integrate cleanly with REST APIs and ensure the UI is fully accessible (WCAG 2.1 AA) - Deliver data-dense, high-trust interfaces where operators can see AI suggestions, confidence levels, and source media to make fast decisions **Required Qualifications** - 6+ years full-stack development with production ownership of complex, data-heavy web applications - Demonstrated delivery of review/annotation/validation or other human-in-the-loop UIs with ability to name the product and role in it - Strong modern JavaScript framework experience (React, Angular, or Vue) plus solid API/back-end integration - Proven accessibility work meeting WCAG 2.1 AA standards - Portfolio of comparable shipped applications - Must be based in Canada and able to contract as an independent professional **Preferred Qualifications** - Experience with in-browser media/video players and large-media rendering - Search and faceted-filtering UI development - Design-system experience - Role-based access control implementation in the UI layer - Experience delivering complex software systems for government or regulated industries **Work Location & Requirements** - Fully remote position - Must be based in Canada - Independent contractor engagement (not employment) - Selection process includes review of background and past work, followed by a short technical assessment/coding exercise
